Emotions can be tricky. Relationships with others can be chaotic. And navigating society’s challenges can be frustrating, depressing, anxiety-provoking, and more. If you find that your normal ways of coping and moving through the world aren’t giving you the results you’d like, consider therapy. Therapy is a place to explore, to learn, to understand, to change, to resist, and to heal. Together, we can work towards a life in which you live in alignment with your values and are effectively working towards your dreams and goals.
I aim to build a strong, collaborative relationship with you and integrate your strengths and values into our work. I favor psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches to counseling. That means our work will typically involve exploration of how your unique history, perceptions, and circumstances influence your life today as well as skill-building to equip you with (more) tools to achieve desired outcomes.
Please consider stepping into this special space like no other. It is one free of judgment and focused on you. It may be strange at first, yet I encourage you to bring your whole self to the encounter. As a queer Black man, I understand how difficult that can be, so we’ll set the pace together and discuss your questions and concerns along the way.
Who is Courtland outside of session though? A guy who loves games of all kinds, anime, drama series, outings with friends, and walking outside when it’s above 65 degrees. Looking forward to working with you!
